Government spending is out of control, government policies are forcing jobs overseas, and the majority of our politicians have forgotten that they represent the people and have succumbed to political parties, special interest groups, and their own political aspirations.

Our country is in real trouble and the American people know it. I have spoken to hundreds of people since my campaign started last September. They know that we need to:

Get spending under control with a balanced budget

Create jobs in our country by using our own natural resources and modifying our tax code to “level the playing field” and encouraging job creation and retention in the U.S.

Hold our representatives accountable through: campaign reform, lobbying reform, and term-limits.

They know that we need representatives “for the people” not “for the party” and not “for themselves”. They get it. Our politicians don’t.

I have been motivated and uplifted with the heart-felt support and concern of everyone I have spoken to. Unfortunately, simply wanting to carry out the will of the people alone is not enough. You need the support of your local party and/or the ability to raise large sums of money in order to run a successful campaign. Because I have not been able to do either, I have decided to end my race for the 8th Congressional district.

I want to offer a sincere thank you to everyone who sacrificed their time and energy during my campaign, especially my wife and children. You are truly remarkable!

Since Mike Fitzpatrick’s announcement, I have been asked whether or not I intend to stay in the race for the 8th Congressional district. The individuals and groups that I have spoken to, since my announcement to run last September, have made it very clear that they want to choose their candidate in an open primary. Therefore, I have every intention of staying in the race and continuing to spread my message of:

1) Controlling spending by freezing federal spending at pre-bailout levels

2) Creating jobs in the United States by:

Modifying the tax code to “level the playing field” and encouraging job creation in the U.S., rather than overseas

Using our own natural resources to bring billions of dollars into our economy while creating new jobs, funding alternative energy initiatives, improving our national security, and reducing our national debt

3) Making our representatives accountable to the people by:

Implementing “Real” campaign finance reform

Implementing “Real” lobby reform and disclosure

Imposing term-limits for all members of the Congress and Senate

4) Upholding our Constitution

With your support, we can send a “Schott of common-sense” to Washington and all get back on the road to economic recovery!
