President Obama managed to get BP to agree to $100/million dollars to cover payroll expenses for his six month moritorium on drilling in the Gulf of Mexico. The problem is that the monthly salaries of the workers is actually $330/million per month. So, 6 months would amount to $1.98 Billion dollars or $1.88 Billion dollars short. That’s the way our government does math.

President Obama just made some brief statement regarding the Gulf Oil Spill. Now he’s blaming communication problems. That might have been acceptable in the first week or two after the disaster, but not now. Are you telling me that they couldn’t find a way to communicate between boats before now? How about marine radios? How about temporary cell phone towers and handing out cell phones? How about using the Coast Guard to aid in communications?

So far, here’s a recap of Obama’s actions during this crisis:

He ignored it

He made a trip to the Gulf when it looked like the Top Kill method was working (but before we could know that it wasn’t)

He made a trip when it looked like the cap would work

He’s making a trip now after BP gave a plan to speed up containment (but before anything could be done) and before actually meeting with BP

He sent plenty of lawyers to start placing blame

He’s already talking about new regulations (and I’m sure Cap & Trade will be included). Maybe his administration should have been enforcing the current regulations. Missing inspections, unrealistic contingency plans, and safety awards. A third of your term is already over, you can’t blame Bush anymore.

Played plenty of Gulf, had plenty of vacation time, and plenty of social events

His lack of ever having a real job, and total lack of management experience, are painfully apparent. Mike Huckabee managed to find and air 9 possible clean-up solutions (on his show last Saturday). At least two of them were already EPA approved and already proven. Can’t Obama’s Nobel prize winning and “best and brightest” scientists do the same?

The disaster is not his fault. It’s BPs. But his lack of leadership is sadly grossly apparent.

Mr Obama, please find someone who knows how to manage a disaster and get out of their way.

John Boehner’s Leader Alert today is titled “As Americans Ask “Where Are the Jobs?” Obama Advisor Pushes for Even More Tax Hikes”. It talks about Paul Volcker’s (President Obama’s advisor) recommendation to implement a Value Added Tax (VAT). As the article explains, this will increase costs and cause further job losses.

The article also includes details on other job killing legislation including:

ObamaCare

Energy taxes (aka “Cap and Trade”)

$3.8 Trillion dollar budget

The last thing we need is more spending and more taxes. Our economy will collapse from these dangerous policies. What happened to “Pay-Go”?

And let’s not forget the socialist takeover of private industry including:

Banks (TARP)

Insurance (AIG)

Automotive (GM)

Health Care (ObamaCare)

Housing (Fannie & Freddie)

Education (student loan take over in Health Care bill)

All of these job/economy killing policies were also voted for by Patrick Murphy. Let’s stay motivated and vote them both out!

Today’s signing, by President Obama, of the healthcare bill continues the systematic takeover of private business by the progressive movement. With the help of Patrick Murphy’s votes, our government has taken over the following:

The banks (TARP)

The automotive industry (GM)

The housing industry (Freddie and Fannie)

Health-care (with the added benefit of giving enforcement to the IRS)

Education financing (part of the health-care bill gives the government full control over student loans – except for one bank as a bribe to it’s member of Congress)

And all of this with no cuts to any other programs. This is all financially unsustainable and detrimental to job creation (wasn’t that supposed to be the number one priority. Next on the list, illegal immigration amnesty reform. It’s going to take a LOT of work to undo this mess. I CAN’T WAIT UNTIL NOVEMBER 2010.

President Obama just changed his position from “not a dime” of tax increases for those making less than $250,000 per year to “agnostic” on tax increases to the middle class. The next change will be tax increases for the entire middle class. I’m sure it will be President Bush’s fault. However, let’s not forget that the Democrats (including President Obama) have had control of the House and Senate since the 2006 election.

Add tax increases to the list of broken promises including:

Going through the budget line by line and page by page. This was a broken campaign promise. It was made again in the State of the Union address. Expect it to be broken again, repeated again, broken again…

Open and transparent government. All bills online for public review before being voted on. CSPAN coverage of health care debates. ETC. ETC. ETC…

Closing Guantanamo

Bi-partisanship

No lobbyists and special interest groups. They are different lobbyists and special interest groups than the prior administration, but they are still there

Unemployment will not go above 8% if we implement his stimulus bill

Health Care reform. The promise was that premiums would go down and there would be no impact to the deficit. Nothing proposed thus far would reduce premiums, ”bend the growth curve”, or be deficit neutral (unless you add in the proposed job killing taxes “fees”)

President Obama has set us on a path to overbearing government control. Bigger government = bigger waste. All these broken promises are just means to that end and will, inevitably, lead to higher/oppressive taxation.

Our only hope is to stop this madness with our continued involvement and well-informed votes in 2010 and 2012.

President Obama and Congressman Patrick Murphy, along with the Democratic leadership, keep blaming the economy on President Bush and his administration. While I agree that President Bush did let spending get out of control, he was not alone. Let’s not forget that in 2004, when “Senator” Obama was elected to the Senate, federal spending was $2.3 trillion a year. In 2006, when Patrick Murphy was elected to Congress, and the Democratic party took control of the House and Senate, spending was $2.7 trillion. Now, we hear that next year’s budget is a whopping $3.8 trillion dollars. That’s a 65% increase from when Senator Obama was first elected Senator and a 41% increase from when Congressman Murphy was first elected to Washington and the Democrats took control. They keep blaming Washington of the past, when they are Washington of the past.

They both need to go! Let’s stay motivated!

P.S. I was amused that during the state of the union address, President Obama talked about going through the budget “line by line” and “page by page”. Wasn’t that part of his campaign promises? Does he really think we forgot?
